NHS @ 75 / 150

Developed in collaboration with the Voices of Our NHS project at University of Manchester,  NHS@75 is a programme of public realm and community-based exhibitions, workshops and facilitated conversations celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the NHS. Co-curated by members of communities whose perspectives have often been excluded or marginalised, the programme will celebrate and reflect upon the history of the NHS, and its many meanings for people and communities now.

The programme makes visible narratives drawn from the Voices of Our NHS archive, a unique resource of over 2000 audio recordings created by University of Manchester to mark the 70th anniversary of the NHS in 2018, and held at the British Library. The archive offers an unparalleled insight into the social, cultural and political histories that are embedded in the NHS.

The project has been developed with some fantastic artists and poets from Manchester and across the UK who will run workshops, write poems and create new visual artworks that tell our new story of the NHS. The workshops, taking place in Harpurhey, Gorton, Wythenshawe and Hulme/Rusholme will be open to all. They will be delivered in partnership with Manchester Libraries and Contact Theatre
