Common Grounds is a new collaboration between We Live Here and Award-winning Photographer Allie Crewe. Exploring themes of landscape, migration, nature and belonging it was created with women who have left other parts of the UK and across Europe to build new lives on the edge of the Thames Estuary in Medway and Essex. The project reflects women’s experiences of landscape and nature as places of solace and health, but also places of risk, danger and threat, both real and symbolic.

Working collaboratively Allie Crewe invites participants to shape their own representation, creating visual stories that are authentic and empowering. Often tackling emotive subjects such as violence against women and girls, her projects are driven by the belief that art can provoke new thinking and inspire positive change. Allie’s work offers people a reflection of their inner truth—not just who they are now, but who they are becoming. She helps others see that healing is not only possible, but already unfolding. This is not just photography. It is a quiet, visionary practice. A sacred act of looking.

Allie is an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society. A five-time finalist and winner of the Portrait of Britain and Portrait of Humanity awards by the British Journal of Photography. Exhibited across the UK, including at Ffotogallery Wales and Photo London, her work has been featured in The Guardian, The Observer, The Telegraph Magazine, Vogue, and BBC News. Her prints are held in private collections, available for purchase, and she welcomes commissions and further editorial work.
